Which system do you need?

It comes down to where your water comes from, because city water and well water arrive with completely different problems.

Then there is coverage. A point of entry system treats every tap in the house. A reverse osmosis installation treats only the water you drink and cook with, at its own faucet under the kitchen sink. Most homes end up with one of each, and a water test is what decides the sizes.

Common questions

How do I know which water treatment system I need?

Start with where your water comes from. On city water the utility has already disinfected it and added chlorine, but it has not softened it, so the job is taking the hardness and the chlorine out. On a well nobody has touched it, so iron, sulfur and hardness arrive exactly as the ground hands them over. After that it is a question of coverage: a point of entry system treats every tap in the house, while a reverse osmosis unit treats only the water you drink and cook with. Most homes need one of each, and the test tells us the sizes.

Do I need to know my water hardness before I call?

No. We measure it at your tap, which is the number that actually matters. Utilities publish a figure for the system, but your line is not the system average, and on a well there is no published figure at all. If you want to see what your utility reports before you speak to anyone, the free water report for your town has it with the source and the year attached.

Can I start with one system and add the rest later?

Yes, and plenty of homes do. The one thing that is not flexible is the order the stages sit in. Sediment filtration goes ahead of everything so grit never reaches the equipment behind it, and on a well the iron and sulfur removal stage has to come before the softener, because iron fouls softener resin and shortens its life. Telling us the plan up front means the plumbing gets left ready for the next stage instead of being reworked.

How long does an install take?

One visit for most homes, including the whole home builds where the softener, the filter and the drinking water system all go in together. A sediment pre-filter on its own is closer to half an hour. The work is done by our own licensed crew rather than a subcontractor, and it ends with a walkthrough of the bypass, the salt fill and the cartridge intervals.
