Under-sink space, the cold supply, and whether the sink deck has a spare hole for the faucet or needs one cut. Disposal and filtered-water lines have to share the drain, so that connection gets looked at first.

- What does reverse osmosis take out that a filter pitcher does not?
- Dissolved contaminants a carbon pitcher cannot hold: lead, fluoride, nitrates, arsenic, PFAS, pharmaceutical residue and microplastics. A pitcher improves taste. A membrane removes what is dissolved in the water.
- Is drinking water filtration different from whole house filtration?
- They are different stages doing different jobs. Drinking water filtration is this system: a reverse osmosis unit under the kitchen sink, delivering to its own faucet, treating only the water you actually drink and cook with. Whole house filtration sits where the water enters the building and treats every tap in the house, which is what you want for showers, laundry and appliances. The reverse osmosis stage goes further on what it does treat, handling lead, fluoride, PFAS and dissolved solids that a carbon filter alone leaves behind. Plenty of Greater Cincinnati homes end up with both, and plenty start here because the kitchen tap is the one that bothers them.
- Does the water taste flat?
- It would if it stopped at the membrane, because reverse osmosis strips the minerals that carry taste along with everything else. The alkaline remineralization stage puts calcium and magnesium back deliberately, which is what keeps it tasting like water.
- Do I need soft water first?
- Not to install it, but hardness shortens membrane life, so on hard water the RO will need cartridges more often. In a house with no softener the whole-home package is usually the better economics.
- Where does it go and how much room does it take?
- Under the kitchen sink. The footprint is compact enough to leave usable cabinet space, and the dedicated faucet sets into the sink deck next to the main tap.
- How often do cartridges get changed?
- Annually for the pre and post filters in most homes, longer for the membrane. We leave you the schedule and the part numbers at handover.
